Destiny 2’s Forsaken reveal: This huge expansion could fix everything that needs fixing - beasleyjustoll

We are T-harmful quintet days from E3—quaternity if you count EA's whole "totally-not-at-E3" event as the starting time of festivities—thusly why'd Bungie reveal its big Destiny 2 expansion today? No idea, but it happened.

It's styled Destiny 2: Forsaken, and as prospective it's being pitched as a Taken King-style revamp of the entire plot.

A much-required uncomparable, I might add. Same that listens to the immense amounts of community feedback finished the past year and—hopefully—folds some of those ideas in. "We want you guys to gambling this pun," as Bungie said during the livestream.

And you know what? If the reveal is anything to go by, then Destiny 2's second year looks heartening. Eldest leading: A novel artillery system. Any other game, that might constitute the C-tier feature reveal, but in Destiny 2 it feels like a huge deal. The original weapon system feels needlessly restrictive virtually of the time, with only one of the player's three slots allowed for shotguns, sniper rifles, rocket engine launchers, swords—almost half the weapons in the game.

So for year ii, that scheme's been totally reworked—non just for the expansion owners, but everyone. "Three shotguns" is a loadout specifically referenced in Bungie's reveal, implying there are no limits at every last. Does that completely break the biz? Maybe. Simply it sounds a hell of a great deal Thomas More fun.

Random rolls are likewise back out from the original Luck, as well as some sort of system that rewards you for semipermanent use of a weapon. Oh, and Bungie's likewise adding bows to the game.

The Tangled Shore up

As for the meat of the expansion: There's a unprecedented campaign, a current multiplayer mode, and a new raid.

Initiatory up, the political campaign. On that point aren't a ton of details Here, but IT's specify in the Reef, a.k.a. the asteroid bash between Mars and Jupiter. A backward positioning from the master Destiny, it's the home of the Awoken, and you'll Be visiting a piece of it known as the Tangled Shore. From the website:

"The all but unlawful frontier all told the Reef, the Tangled Shore is a dangerous web of asteroids lashed together. Its isolated location, far from Avant-garde and Awoken authorities, pull round an ideal home for pirates and outlaws quest marooned treasure."

Hunt criminals in the Taken Land.

Bungie's touting information technology as a pseudo-western, most a "override Magnificent Seven." Dusty, darker and more serious than the core Destiny 2 story. Cade has been throwing dangerous criminals into the Prison of Elders. After a prison collapse it's heavenward to you to hunt Down the eight Barons—a series of powerful bosses.

It sounds promising, though after the dismal stories in the Curse of Osiris and Warmind expansions…unenviable to get also aflutter.

Gambit

Easier to front forward to is the new multiplayer mode, Gambit. It's a PvP/PvE hybrid. Two teams of four are disagreeable to putting to death waves of enemies and deposit concentrated items into a central hub. Once enough are deposited, you'll spawn a powerful enemy into the strange squad's arena, locking them cut down until they defeat it. Teams can also send one of their members over to the other side to harass the other side.

We'll have the chance to crack active with Gambit at E3 next workweek and I'm looking forward to that. Fortune 2's always drawn a rough line between co-op modes and competitive modes, but there's much of interesting space in between those two I'm excited for the game to explore.

The Dream City

The new raid is maybe my most anticipated addition, though: The Dreaming City. IT's billed American Samoa the Awoken homeland, and the about interesting part is how often Bungie talked about "surprising" players. There's an provocative quote from the reveal video, "The Dreaming City you see at plunge testament non be the same as the Dreaming City you meet two Beaver State tercet weeks later."

What on the button that means? Bungie's non saying. But as someone who's hightail it Destiny 2's Leviathan raid into the basis and memorized most of its corridors, I'm certainly intrigued by the idea of a raid that changes every few weeks.

Of course, being surprised goes hand-in-hand with not knowing anything, so in that respect aren't umpteen details apart from a few panning shots of the landscape painting and some offensive statues. Also the promise of "more bosses than any foray before."

Bottom line

There are a bunch Sir Thomas More grab-bulge features. Unused supers! Collections are back! Buckeye State, and a new way for Bungie to make money—the "Annual Pass," which will be timed with the new seasons and add traditional knowledge, unaccustomed triumph records, weapons and armour, endgame challenges, and more. No, non a season pass with the traditional expansions—these eschew campaigns to focus solely on adding more gameplay features, it sounds like. Possibly in that respect are no handed-down expansions?

But aside from that small hiccup, this was a pretty promising divulge. That might be the theme of every Destiny 2 effect, and heaven knows Bungie hasn't careful up to it promise with previous expansions, but the new weapon system alone sounds like a good reason to get back. It should certainly stir the Melting pot's stale capitalistic play, at the very least.

As I said, we'll hold more details out of E3—emphatically a view Ploy, and hopefully both more campaign details too. Detain tuned.
